A Basic ICH-GCP Training-Workshop was successfully conducted by Philippine Clinical Research Professionals Inc. (PCRP) in partnership with Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) held at Basilio Valdes Hall, GF, Main Building, VMMC, North Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines last 23 August 2019. The GCP training-workshop was requested by Dr. Annielyn Beryl Ong-Cornel, VMMC – Institutional Review (VMMC-IRB) Board to further promote their culture of good clinical practice in their conduct of research and to actively involve their consultants who act as preceptors to training residents. The speakers were Mr. Richard Bungay, PCRP PRO and Speakers’ Bureau member and Ms. Marie Esther Mallari, PCRP Speakers’ Bureau member. Dr. Annielyn Beryl Ong-Cornel of VMMC presented the IRB/IEC Responsibilities and reminded the audience on the review and approval process of research papers with VMMC-IRB. Dr. Tito Atienza of VMMC talked about the Investigator Responsibilities and shared his first-hand experience and best practices as a researcher and clinical trial investigator. A supplemental topic on the Role of Preceptors was presented by Dr. Johann Giovanni P. Mea. There are a total of 58 attendees who participated in this GCP training-workshop wherein 47 were from VMMC and 11 from other institutions. The attendees were a mixture of fellows, consultants, IRB members, investigators and study coordinators. PCRP is committed to organize and unite Clinical Research Professionals in the Philippines in order to foster Good Clinical Research practice in the industry.
